Checking Accounts

Offering a variety of checking accounts has proven to be popular with the customers of the Markesan State Bank, and when you have a checking account with the Markesan State Bank, you can take advantage of the following benefits:

  • Automatic Loan Payments:  Allows you to have your loan payment taken directly out of your checking account and applied to your loan.
  • Direct Deposit:  Allows you to have your employer set up an automatic deposit of your paycheck, social security, or other benefit checks. This means your funds are automatically deposited into your account.  Your money will be in your account waiting for you to access it at your convenience.
  • Check Card Services:  Allows you to have access to the funds in your checking account at any time. (Note: Some restrictions and fees apply, see your local office for more details.)
  • Statement Options:  Allows you the convenience of having your statements sent to you via email, through your Internet Banking account, held at the office of your choice or sent to you via normal mail.

  • Check Benefits:  All new accounts will receive one box of Markesan State Bank checks at a reduced rate of $5.00.  Senior Citizens receive FREE checks.  Plus you are allowed unlimited check writing privileges.
  • Online Banking:  Allows you to access your accounts at any time, day or night.
  • CheckFree Bill Pay:  Allows you the convenience to transfer funds directly from your account.  Know when all your payments will clear (you set the payment dates.)
  • Mobiliti Mobile Banking:  Allows you to access your accounts right from your mobile device.

If you are concerned about changing banks because of direct deposit, don’t be. Our staff will help guide you through the process, ensuring your direct deposit payments are transferred to your new account.

All deposit accounts at the Markesan State Bank are FDIC insured, including checking accounts. The standard insurance amount is $250,000.00 per depositor, per insured bank, for each account ownership category. The FDIC provides separate coverage for deposits held in different account ownership categories. Depositors may qualify for more coverage if they have funds in different ownership categories and all FDIC requirements are met.

Free Personal & Business Checking Account 

  • A minimum opening deposit of $50.00 is required.
  • No minimum balance required.
  • No monthly maintenance fees.
  • Statements are generated on a monthly or quarterly basis. 

 Now Checking Account

  • A minimum opening deposit of $50.00 is required.
  • Must maintain a balance of $1,000.00 or a $10.00 monthly service charge will be assessed. 
  • Interest compounds daily and is credited to each account monthly. 
  • Statements are generated on a monthly basis.

Supernow Checking Account

  • A minimum opening deposit of $50.00 is required.
  • Must maintain a balance of $1,000.00 or a $10.00 monthly service charge will be assessed. 
  • Interest compounds daily and is credited to each account monthly.
  • Interest is calculated on balances in each tier and is cumulative as the balance increases.
  • Statements are generated on a monthly basis.
